William F. Espinosa, 88 of Chillicothe, passed away on July 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
William was born on February 10, 1933 in Depue, Illinois, the son of Theodoro and Eufemia (Renteria) Espinosa. He married Rachel Ramos on February 4, 1956 in Chillicothe. William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. William was employed as a carpenter and volunteered his carpentry skills on many occasions throughout his life. He was an excellent fastpitch softball player and played as a catcher for many local teams. He was also a lifelong White Sox and Chicago Bears fan. He loved to fish and garden and was a dedicated fan of Chillicothe sports and community activities.
Surviving is his wife Rachel Espinosa of Chillicothe, four children: Craig (Patrice) Espinosa of Chillicothe, Roxane (David) Jacobs of Montgomery Village, MD, Eric (Michelle) Espinosa of Chillicothe, and Kevin (Jennifer) Espinosa of Edwards, eleven grandchildren: Joseph Espinosa, Stephen (Nicole) Espinosa, Anthony Espinosa, Daniel (Emily) Espinosa, Rachel (Scott) Drummond, Rebecca (Legonn) Haskins, Renee (Kevin) Gordon, Bethany Espinosa, Victoria Espinosa, Andrew Espinosa and Olivia Espinosa, nine great grandchildren, and two sisters, Lillian Razo of Chillicothe and Eufemia Rangel of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
William was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Chillicothe V.F.W. Post 4999. He worked as a carpenter with Local 237 in Peoria. William was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Chillicothe, and a member of Pearce Community Center.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 21, at 11:00 AM at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Fr. Matt Deptula will officiate. Visitation will be held at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, July 20, 2021 from 5-7 PM with recitation of the Rosary at 4:30 PM, and additional visitation one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church.
