Charles F. High, age 89, of Chillicothe died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.He was born on August 20, 2916 in Monticello the son of Gerald and Lucille Devaux High. He married his high school sweetheart Helen Tucker on February 12, 1937 in Monticello.He is survived by his wife Helen and three daughters, Dr. Jacqueline High-Pagni of Rocheport, MO, Christine H. Wright of Chillicothe and Mame Nowlin of Nauvoo.Charles and Helen owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Chillicothe for 31 years, from 1955 to 1956. Prior to owning the Diary Queen, he was an Enginer for the Burlington Railroad for twenty-five years. He was also a dyno-operator at Caterpillar in Mossville.He served on the Chillicothe Park Board for eight years and was a part of the committee to of the new swimming pool. He gave to many charitable organizations; he was a kind and loving husband, and father. He will be missed.Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services will be held at the family's home in Chillicothe. Memorials may be given to Rescue 33 in his name. Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
