Wilma Joanne Lucas, age 87, peacefully passed away in her home on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Born March 11, 1934 in North Hampton, Illinois to Henry and Ida Blanche (Crotz) TerVeen. She married Charles E. Lucas Jr. on March 11, 1953 and celebrated 58 years of marriage until his passing in January 2011. Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Georgia May Parsons.
Surviving are her children; Cheryl (Denny) Beddow of Chillicothe, Rodney (Vickie) Lucas of Chillicothe and Judy (Jerry) Stenger of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; Keli Baker, Pody Goines, Kasey (Heather) Baker, Kami (Steven) Henriques, Brian Hamm, Beau Smith, Rachel Lucas, Rod (Jennifer) Lucas, Sarah (Dave) Crook, Phillip (Jen) Lucas; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Wilma held the fastest and most accurate typing record at her high school and worked at the Red Fox grocery store in Chillicothe before becoming a fantastic cook and homemaker for her family. Christmas won’t be the same without the homemade fudge and caramel she excelled at making. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, family fishing trips, spending time with her family, and talking with the ladies at her weekly hair appointments. She was blessed to have lived in the same town as most of her family and loved attending her grandchildren’s activities. Wilma was very proud of her family and will be deeply missed by every one of them.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery immediately following the services. Memorials can be made in her honor to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, as she was a breast cancer survivor, or to the American Lung Association. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
