William Barlow

William “Bill” Earl Barlow, age 85, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria.

Bill was born on March 7, 1936 in Peoria, IL to James A. and Caroline (Faicheny) Barlow.  At the age of 12 years old, he was the first survivor of open heart surgery at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.  On March 2, 1972, he married Twila Wys in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Surviving are his wife, Twila; his son, Fredric (Joyce) Barlow of Hanna City, IL; his granddaughter, Rachael-Nicole Barlow of Hanna City, IL; his siblings, Gloria Foster of Williamsfield, IL, Jim Barlow of Peoria, IL, Rosalie (Ray) Mills of Creve Coeur, IL, Louise Cheney of Brimfield, IL, Kathy (Russ) Pribble of Glasford, IL and Dale (Marge) Barlow of Glasford, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Marcus-Allen Barlow; his siblings, Caroline, Glenn and Penny; his childhood best friend and brother-in-law, Dick Cheney and his good friend and cousin, Frank “DeeDee” Kerrn.

Bill owned Bill’s Trucking Service for almost 30 years before he retired.  He was a member of the Alta Masonic Lodge No. 748 A.F. & A.M., the Mohammed Shrine, and the Odd Fellows.  He was also a member of the Charter Oak Bible Church and a life member of Bass Masters.  Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, riding on his tractor, traveling and camping trips in Florida.  He was also a master mechanic.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Noon at his home.  Memorials in his name may be made to the Alta Masonic Lodge.  Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com.
