Valerie Lucas

Valerie Jane Lucas, 77, of Chillicothe passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017. Jane was born on November 22, 1939 to Thomas and Josephine (Heathcoat) Lopeman. She married James O. Lucas on June 7, 1959 in Sparland. He survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Lori (James) Redmond of Chillicothe; one son, James (Denise) Lucas of Liberty; one brother, John (Jean) Lopeman of Henry; two sisters, Judy (Truman) Hatten and Ann Lopeman, both of Tampa, FL; nine grandchildren, Chandra (Louis) Rigo, Brandon, Randi, Tyler, Autumn, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Sarah; and three great-grandchildren, Kyli, Addison, and Chase. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Toni; and eleven brothers and sisters. Valerie loved to spend time with her family. She sewed, gardened, fished, played bingo, and loved to cook and bake. Valerie loved bird watching, was known to travel with a fishing pole, and knew how to plan a good party. She was the best mom in the world. A funeral will be held for Valerie at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, January 18, 2017. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate. Memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or George Washington Masonic Lodge #222.
