Suzanne M. Carroll, 73, of Chillicothe passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Heritage
Health Nursing Home in Chillicothe.
Born December 25, 1941, in Freeport, the daughter of Bayard H. and Frances A. (Goldsmith) Esme', she married Raymond D. "Dean" Carroll on November 14, 1964, in Chillicothe.
Surviving are: one daughter, Lisa (Todd) Hammer of Chillicothe; one son, Gregory (Ashleigh) Carroll of Chillicothe; two grandsons, Ryne M. and Brady D. Hammer; and one granddaughter, Piper A. Carroll. Also surviving are two brothers, David (Jeanette) Esme' of Peoria and Stephen (Jan) Esme' of Princeton. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her parents and one brother, Phillip Esme'.
She attended Chillicothe High School and graduated from the Academy of Our Lady High School in Peoria. Suzie worked in the advertising department for Bergner's in Peoria before opening and operating the Hickory Stick Gift Shop & Tea Room in Chillicothe until her retirement in 1996.
She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, the Illinois Art League, Chillicothe Historical Society, Altrusa, and participated in numerous Native American events in celebration of her heritage.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made in Suzanne's honor to St. Edward's School, St. Jude's, or the Illinois Cancer Center.
