Sharon Crabel

CHILLICOTHE - Sharon Ann Crabel, 74, of Chillicothe passed peacefully from this world with her loving husband by her side on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

Sharon was born in Peoria, Illinois, on October 4, 1946, to Marion Choni and Wayne Dawson. She married Clyde "Sid" Crabel on April 11, 1969.

Sharon was raised by her paternal grandparents, the late Arthur and Lulu (Rickey) Dawson, in Sparland, Illinois.

Sharon took great pride in her family and her career. In addition to being the mother of triplets, an older son and two step-children, she was a pseudo mom to countless neighborhood youths throughout the years.

Serving as long-time city and township clerk, Sharon was proud to continue the tradition of public service started by her mother-in-law, the late Ilion Wait Crabel. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Wayne Dawson; stepfather, James Kitts; and brother, Danny Kitts.

In addition to her husband, Sharon is survived by an extended family to mourn her passing: her mother, Marion Kitts of Lacon; stepmother, Dorothy Dawson

of Sparland; son, Richard (Brenda) Crabel of Byron; triplet sons, Shawn, Shannon and Scott Crabel of Chillicothe; son, Dan (Doris) Crabel of Jacksonville, FL; son, Wade Crabel of Raleigh, NC; siblings, Danny (Charlotte) Dawson of Chillicothe, Donald (Julie) Dawson of Sparland, Richard (Lori) Dawson of Peoria, Kimberly (Dennis) Mathews of Chillicothe, Dick Kitts of Washington, Gary (Darcie) Kitts of Sparland and Diana (Phil) Molleck of Brimfield; aunt, Betty Kelly of Sparland; aunt, Maxine Kenyon of Lacon; aunt, Lucille Dawson of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Christopher, Karlie, Gio, Jason, Karen, Adam and Chase; and great-grandchild, Makenzie.

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside will be held in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Chillicothe Historical Society or Chillicothe Veterans Memorial.
