Russell C. Pulst, 87, Chillicothe IL died on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his home.
Russell was born January 1, 1928 in Starkweather, ND. He was the son of William and Edna B. (Paul) Pulst. He attended school in Starkweather, ND and graduated from Starkweather High School as Salutatorian of his Class in 1945. Russell enlisted into the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1946 to 1947 in support of the ongoing efforts in Saipan. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, he was enrolled into the University of North Dakota where he graduated in 1953 with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. Russell married Norma Largent on October 25, 1959 in East Peoria, IL. Russell was employed with Caterpillar Tractor Company for the next 30 years: retiring as the Supervising Engineer of the Engine Department.
Russell is survived by his wife Norma of Chillicothe; a son, Brian (Becky) Pulst of Edelstien; two grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Pulst, Jr. of Hubert, NC and Robert (Erin) Pulst of Princeville, IL; three great grandchildren, Russell, Jacob, and Cecilia Pulst; and four brothers, Roger (Pat) Pulst of Mt. Clements, MI, Wesley (Lila) Pulst of Bella Vista, AR, Clifford (Linda) Pulst of Arvada, CO and Paul (Karlyn) Pulst of Arvada, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, David and William, one sister, and four brothers.
Russell loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He will be missed by his family. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Weber Hurd Funeral Home 1107 North Fourth St. Chillicothe, IL. The funeral service will be conducted at the Chillicothe Bible Church located at 434 W. Moffitt St., Chillicothe, IL on Thursday, May 7, 2015. Pastor Joe Horn will be officiating. The interment will follow to Blue Ridge Cemetery in Edelstein with military rites.
The family requested that memorial contributions in memory of Russell be made at the Chillicothe Bible Church. Proceeds will be donated to the Children's Hospital of Illinois. Russell's online memorial webpage be viewed at
