Roselynn Metcalf

Roselynn C. Metcalf, age 80, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Roselynn was born on January 26, 1942 in Peoria, IL to P. Nelson and Charlotte Ann (Meister) Shane.  She married Gerald Wayne “Gary” Metcalf on April 20, 1963 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe.

Surviving are her husband, Gerald; her children, David (Li Fang) Metcalf of Peoria, IL, Robert (Linda) Metcalf of Hampton, IL, Patrick (Shannon) Metcalf of Mokena, IL; three grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.  Also surviving are five brothers, Garwin (Tena) Shane, Glen (Vicki) Shane, Leon (Cindy) Shane and Marty Shane, all of Chillicothe, and Jim (Kathy) Shane of Harrisburg; three sisters, Anita (Marvin) Waldschmidt of Sparland, IL, Paula Shane and Martha (Dave) Art of Chillicothe, IL; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Mick; and one daughter-in-law, Lori Metcalf.

Roselynn graduated from Chillicothe High School and then from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing.  She was an office nurse for Dr. Johnson and Dr. Hart for 28 years and then for the American Red Cross for 10 years.  She was also a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to Mass.  Fr. Matthew Deptula will be officiating.  Burial of ashes will follow at Chillicothe City Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
