Robert H.Wilkinson, 84, of Evergreen Senior Living in Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 5:45 p.m. at Heritage Health Care.
Robert was born on January 7, 1932 in Iantha, MO to Nina Day and Walter Wilkinson. He married Elsa Ferguson on August 31, 1974 in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2010.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.D. Wilkinson, and step granddaugthter April Patterson.
Surviving are: one son, Greg (Anne) Bailey, Petuluma, CA; two grandchildren, Christina and TJ Bailey, Petuluma, CA; two step-children, Rick (Emie) Rathbone, Stronghurst, IL, Renee Krudwig, Chillicothe, IL; five step-grandchildren, Kim Rathbone, Nashville, TN, Jason Rathbone, Chillicothe, IL, Amy (Brian) Gaffney, Chillicothe, IL, Jay Krudwig, Naperville, IL, and Eric Rathbone, Stronghurst, IL; two step-great-granchildren, Oliver and Declan Gaffney, Chillicothe, IL; and one sister, Bonnie (Bob) Samuels, Springfield, MO.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, earning a bronze star medal while serving in the 3rd infantry division during the Korean War.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #4999 and Amvets Post #64. Robert was a post District and Division Commander of Amvets.
Robert loved many things, including blue gill fishing at Bass Lake, MN, gambling boats, gardening with his friends, and monthly chicken fries at the VFW. Over the years, Robert participated in several bowling leagues, achieving a 700 series. He also sponspored "Bob's Babes" Monday housewives bowling league. He was an avid fan the of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, and Bradley Braves Men Basketball; however, his greatest passion was his St. Louis Cardinals.
A funeral will be held for Robert at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery.
