Robert Meyer

Robert Lewis Meyer, age 90, of Sparland, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria.

Robert was born on May 3, 1932 in Carbondale, IL to Joseph W. and Velma M. (Horn) Meyer.  He married Mary B. Nurse on February 12, 1955 in Chillicothe.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; his daughters, Rebecca (Tom Huston) Cassidy of Peoria, IL and Carolyn Blair of Sparland, IL; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Robert worked for Caterpillar for 38 years, retiring in 1989.  He was a member of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church, the Chillicothe American Legion Post #9, the National Rifle Association and the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department Auxiliary.  He enjoyed camping, woodworking, fishing and reading, but above all he was a family man and loved spending time with his family.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation held one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Randy Shepard will be officiating.  Burial will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
