Richard Gollnitz

Richard Lee Gollnitz, age 88, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria.
Richard was born on January 28, 1933 in Chillicothe to Fredrick Paul and Anna Marie (Werner) Gollnitz. He married Judy Kay Fleisher on May 22, 1971 in Farmington. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2015. Also preceding him in death are his parents and his siblings, Milda (Phil) McAlearney, Alba (Lucille) Martin, Robert (Janice) Gollnitz, Anna (John) Cheville and Carol (Willard) Prynn.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan (Cord) Crisler and his grandson, Nicolo Crisler, of Germantown Hills, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard graduated from Chillicothe Township High School and then from Bradley University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He worked for Caterpillar for over 35 years, retiring in 1991 as Program Foreman in Building E. Richard was a member of the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Peoria Casting Club, AMVETS and a 3x Post Commander of the American Legion Post 9. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and even did some woodcarving.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11am at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Neighborhood House Meals on Wheels. Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
