Raymond S. Horton, 82, of Chillicothe passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his home. Ray was born on September 9, 1934 in Prentice the son of James and Abby (Denney) Horton. Ray married Rosalie Horton. He later married Pamela S. Connor on July 19, 1980 in Dunlap. Surviving are his wife, Pamela of Chillicothe; his children, Lisa (George) Ramsey of Chillicothe, Jeffrey Horton of Galesburg; Sheryl (Steve) Kent of Chillicothe, John (Tracy) Horton of Phoenix, AZ; stepdaughter, Nakea Stambaugh of Phoenix, AZ; and eight grandchildren, Rachel, Cole, Roland, Travis, Mariah, Tristen, Chris and Zack. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Cecil, Ellis and David. Ray worked for the railroad for 14 years of his life, and Caterpillar for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, and boating, as well as gardening and working in his own yard. A funeral will be held for Ray at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Mossville United Methodist Church in Mossville. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family prior to the service, starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Rev. Bob Herath will preside.
