d. September 18, 2018

Phyllis Jean Rahn, 86, of Dunlap, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 18 at Heritage Healthcare in Chillicothe, comfortably and peacefully in her sleep. She was born on November 20, 1931, to Charles and Lucille Seiter as their third child in Rock Island, IL, where she was raised. Formerly married to Richard Rahn of Moline, they moved with their three children to Peoria in 1967. He, as well as her parents, a sister (Betty Till) and brother (Robert Seiter) preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, David Rahn (Susan) of Middlebury, IN; two daughters, Karen Wenskus (Joe) of Dunlap, IL; and Linda Kier (Brian), of Peoria, IL; 7 grandchildren (Mary Ann Roth, Laura Lied, Jason Rahn, Alison Bland, Stephanie Gareau, Lauren Anderson, Tyler Kier); and 13 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The entire family cherished her as matriarch and their closeness to one another is part of her enduring legacy. She was a lifelong bridge player and instructor in the Peoria area, attaining the status of Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League. Phyllis combined her love of bridge with her generous spirit in recent years by donating the proceeds from her bridge lessons to Peoria Youth for Christ. She loved garage sale shopping and finding new homes for old treasures. Guests are invited to join the family in celebrating Phyllis' life at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL from 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Sunday, October 14. A short service will begin at 2:00pm. Preferred memorial contributions should be made to Peoria Youth for Christ.
