Phillip Bostick

Phillip Bostick, 63, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, while surrounded by family and loved ones in his Peoria home.

Born on Jan. 12, 1952, to John Louis Bostick and Mildred Gayton in Savannah, Ga., Phil was a devout family man and provider. He married LynnAnn Brownlow on Aug. 28, 1978, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2012.

Surviving Phillip are his four children, Phillip R. Bostick, Robert J. Bostick, Shyla A. Bostick and Quentin J. Bostick of East Lansing, Mich., Peoria, Ill., Jacksonville, Fla., and Columbia, Mo., respectively; one granddaughter, Nevaeh Rebholz of Houston, Texas; two brothers, John Bostick of California and Johnny Bostick, whereabouts unknown; one sister, Jeanette Marberry of Washington; two nieces, Andrea Bostick and Octavia Bostick; and one nephew, Andre Bostick.

Phillip graduated from Manual High School in Peoria.

He married Judy Thomas, mother of Phillip, in 1971.

He served in the Marines from 1970 to 1974.

He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mailman in Peoria for 31 years, retiring on June 2014.

Phillip was a three-term president of the NALC Branch 31 of Peoria.

He enjoyed bowling and fishing as well as being handy around the house.

His parents and mother-in-law, Metha George, also preceded him in death.

A funeral service for Phillip will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, 116 NE Perry Ave., in Peoria. The visitation starts at noon at the church. Pastor Bob Phillips will officiate. A repast will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 2900 W. Lake Ave., Peoria, immediately following services. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.

Memorial donations in honor of Phillip may be made to Lung Cancer Foundation of America.
