Muriel "Mert" A. Parker, 80, of Chillicothe passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon.
Mert was born February 6, 1935 in Peoria to Enid Parker and Bessie Huckins.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Mert was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Parker of Chillicothe.
Mert loved the many friends she had. She loved throwing parties for her Red Hat Ladies. Mert always looked forward to her daily phone call from her "Cousin Jean." She also enjoyed meeting up with her High School classmates and eating at Grecian Gardens with them while sharing stories and happenings. Mert had many close friends that she considered her family and loved spending time with.
Most recently, Mert loved her family at St. Joseph's Home in Lacon. She called many of them her family, and many called her "Aunt Mert." She enjoyed the many visits from her great nephew, Justin, whom she enjoyed getting to know and giving advice to. Mert supported many causes over the years, such as animal rescue organizations, Lakota Indian children, saving the wolves, St. Jude's, veterans, and many more. She was just a kind and caring person who loved all.
A funeral will be held for Mert at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mert's honor to The A.R.K. Animal Shelter in Lacon.
