Mary Ann King, 94, long time resident of Chillicothe passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon. Mary Ann was born on January 16, 1924 in Lowpoint, Illinois. She was the daughter of Lester and Lola (Nichols) Davis and the fifth born of their ten children. Surviving are her children: Donna Gondek of Chillicothe, Sandy (Dennis) Luckett of Chillicothe and Steven Creighton who resides in Thailand. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and her sister, Betty (Robert) Schaer of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters. In 1962 Mary Ann married Samuel King and enjoyed fifty one years together before his death in 2013. Mary Ann worked at Armour Meat Packing Plant before attending beauty school. Later Mary Ann owned and operated the Track Inn Restaurant in Chillicothe with her daughter, Donna. She was known for the aromas in her kitchen and her great love of entertaining family and friends. She also never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and share her love of fishing with them. She was so proud of her family and their accomplishments. Mary Ann was quick with a joke and never knew a stranger. Although she was afraid to fly, she loved to travel yearly to visit friends in southern Florida. Mary Ann was a member of the American Legion Post 9 Auxiliary A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 16th, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Hawley Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life immediately following the funeral at the American Legion in Chillicothe. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 9 Auxiliary.
