Mary Hardmeier

Mary "Lucy" L. Hardmeier, 86, of Chillicothe passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at her home. She was born on June 26, 1932 in Essex Twp in Stark County, IL the daughter of Frank E. and Mary E. (McIntyre) Eckley. She married Robert D. Hardmeier on June 10, 1950 in Chillicothe. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2003. Surviving are her children: Susan (Michael) Adams of Las Cruces, NM, Nancy Crafton of Chillicothe, Kay (Clifford) Van Meter of Chillicothe, and Robert A. Hardmeier of Peoria; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband, sister, brother, and long time companion, William Donath. Lucy worked at St. Edward School as a cook for over 20 years. She was a member of the VFW Post 4999 Auxiliary. Lucy had a passion for birds. She raised and showed rabbits for more than 20 years, she was a member and past president of the Peoria Area Rabbit Club. She liked to play Bingo. Lucy loved her grandchildren and enjoyed being around them. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Chillicothe City Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon at the Chillicothe VFW Post 4999, located at 1729 North Santa Fe, Chillicothe.
