Martha Plattner

Martha Plattner, 89, of Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria, Ill., passed away at 12:37 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Apostolic Christian Skylines. She was born on July 11, 1927 in Scheppach, Germany, the daughter of Christian and Luise Siegel Christ. She immigrated to America in October of 1952 with her sister, Frida. She married Bob Plattner on March 17, 1982 in Peoria, Ill. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2008. Surviving are two sisters, Frida Christ of Peoria, and Else (Werner) Arnold of Germany; three sisters-in-law, Doris Christ of Elmwood, Elise Christ and Gerlinde Christ, both of Germany; one stepdaughter, Sue Ellen (Robert) Swanson of Peoria Heights, Ill., one stepson, Craig A. Tony (Barb) Plattner of Hanna City, Ill. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven brothers; and three sisters. Martha worked as a public health nurse in Peoria until she retired in 1982. She was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church, where services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. Church ministers will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria.
