Martha Canopy

Martha L. Canopy, 73, of Rome passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry, Illinois. Martha was born on August 17, 1943, in Herrin, Illinois, to Andrew and Dorothy (Parsons) Jackson and married Donald D. Canopy on June 16, 1968, in Decatur, Illinois. She is survived by her husband; a son, Andrew (Virginia) D. Canopy of Morton and Peggy (John Nick) Canopy of Washington, DC; two grandchildren, Kristen and Phillip Canopy; two step grandchildren, Brady and Tucker Nick; three sisters, Sally Richardson, D. Gayle McDavid and M. Karen Fite, and a brother, Rex Jackson. Martha taught Chemistry at Dunlap High School for 30 years and was a dedicated member of Richwoods Christian Church in Peoria. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:30 am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 pm and also 30 minutes prior to the service time. Burial will be held in Orendroff Cemetery in Hopedale.
