Lula Frances Hannah Adolphson, age 100, passed to Jesus at 6:30 pm May 8, 2022 the evening of Mother’s Day, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Springfield, IL surrounded by family
Born on June 30, 1921, in Peoria, Ill., to H. Ray and Lula Burroughs Hannah, she married Rudolph “Rudy” Adolphson on September 13, 1947, in Mossville, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2004 in Edelstein, Ill.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail (James) Frank of Springfield, IL, three grandchildren, Gary (Jennifer) Frank of Athens, IL, Holly (William) Zaborowski of Middleton, WI, Christopher Frank of New Roads, LA. Seven great grandchildren, Isaac Frank of Chatham, IL, Christian Frank of Memphis, TN, Jacob Zaborowski of Middleton, WI, Julie Zaborowski of Middleton, WI, Micah Frank of Athens, IL, Asher Frank of Athens, IL and Grace Frank of Baton Rouge, LA. One great great grandchild, Lennox Frank of Chatham, IL. Also surviving is one sister, Cora (Max) Atteberry of Chillicothe, IL. Special friend Susan Real of Henry, Il. And many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by son Gregg Adolphson, one sister, Marlyn (Fritz) Millard, and 5 brothers, Richard (JoAnn), H. Ray (Marion), Robert (Kitty), Glen (Margaret) & Keith (Marilyn) Hannah.
Fran grew up on a farm in Medina Township, helping her mother with her six younger siblings. After graduating from Chillicothe High School, she was employed by LeTourneau’s in Peoria, IL. She talked often of working for such a man as R.G. LeTourneau and singing in the LeTourneau choir.
She married Rudy and they farmed in Speer for many years before moving to rural Edelstein, she also worked for International Paper in Peoria for 30 years.
Her passions were her love of Jesus, family, quilting and traveling, she and Rudy took many wonderful trips with family and friends over the years. She was active in the LaPrairie Presbyterian church as youth group leader in the 70’s, a member of the LaPrairie United Women’s group with a special focus on the Blanket Brigade, creating hundreds of lap quilts to donate locally and around the world.
Her heart was always with her family maintaining close relationships with all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her great great granddaughter.
She was a farmer’s daughter, a farmer’s wife, and the first one to be there when you needed help. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by so many.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will also be on Saturday morning from 9am to 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Donations can be made to LaPrairie United Presbyterian Church, or Vision for Asia, a family ministry supporting widows and orphans in India.
