Leon H. Rusk

Leon Hosler Rusk, age 93, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at UnityPoint Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Leon was born in 1930 in Chicago, IL to Leon Andrew and Lilian Mae Hosler.  He married Mary Juanita Rusk on December 5, 1953 in Griffin, Georgia.  She preceded him in death.  Also preceding him in death are his parents; his son, Fred; and his sister, Wanda Mae Appel.

Surviving are his children, Ernest (Jamie) Rusk of Edelstein, IL, Andrew (Nancy) Rusk of Wisconsin and Tammy (Greg) Vlies of Indiana; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Leon served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a farmer for 30 years, then worked for Courtney International for nine years, and then worked for Steuben Township until he retired at 83 years old.  He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the American Legion Post #9 in Chillicothe.  He enjoyed wood working, farming and watching the crops grow.
