Laura Richards-Ryan

Laura E. Richards-Ryan, age 38, of Edelstein, passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. She was born to Stann and Jane (Zakibe) Richards on May 19, 1979 in Peoria. She married Jeff Ryan on October 5, 2013 in Peoria Heights. Laura is survived by her husband Jeff Ryan of Edelstein; parents Stann and Jane Richards of West Peoria; step-children, Brianna, Ashley, Jacob, Katelyn, and Amber, all of Pekin; sister, Emily (Tony) Fogliano of Orlando, FL; one grandchild; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. After earning a Master's Degree in Mathematics, Laura taught at Woodruff High School in Peoria for four years, and then at IVC High School in Chillicothe for two years. Laura was the Scholastic Bowl coach and had her hands in just about every other activity at IVC, and she loved to read, travel, and play piano. A funeral service for Laura will be held at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 12:00 PM. Pastor Melinda Stephenson will officiate. Visitation will be held two hours prior at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Lasalle Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Laura may be made to Illinois Cancer Care.
