Josephine Beardslee

Josephine Ann "Jo Ann" Beardslee passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 in the ER at UnityPoint Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria at the age of 90.
She was born in Peoria, Illinois on October 2, 1930, the daughter of Carl and Anna Leitgeb. Jo Ann attended Woodruff High School, where she participated in school musicals. She married George Beardslee in December of 1949 and they later moved to Chillicothe in 1954. Together they shared a love of music. Jo Ann enjoyed singing and George played his guitar and harmonica. They even joined the Jazz Society.
Jo Ann treasured family, friends and her beloved cats. She was happiest when sharing conversation and her sense of humor with others. Jo Ann will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion.
She leaves behind a daughter, Barbara Dunning of Decatur, IL; a son, Robert Beardslee of Decatur, IL; her granddaughters, Julie Dunning of Bloomington, IL and Dr. Susan (Andrew) Dunning Neukirch of Glenview; and her most precious great-granddaughter, Adelaide. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006.
There will be a private family graveside service in Josephine's honor. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Jo Ann's memory to The A.R.K., 477 State Route 26, Lacon, IL 61540. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
