John Totten

John C. Totten, 91, of Peoria passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria.
John was born on Sept. 6, 1923, in Bushnell to Leo C. and Nina (Keith) Totten. He married Armedia Stubblefield on June 15, 1946. She preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2007.
John is survived by his brother-in-law and constant visitor, Robert Strand Sr. of East Peoria; nephews, Dr. Michael Luthy of Louisville, Ky., Robert (Terri) Strand Jr., Drew (Andrea) Strand and Cal Strand, all of Frontenac, Kan., and Zane (Ali) Gresback of Florence, S.C.; and nieces, Tobi (Steve) Strand Gresback of Riverton, Wyo., and Margo Strand of Frontenac, Kan.
His parents; his beloved wife; and his sister, Becky Strand, preceded him in death.
He graduated from Woodruff High School and Bradley University.
John retired as an MSC manager/postmaster from the United States Postal Service.
John was an avid sailor, cyclist, runner, gardener, bird hunter, skier and White Sox baseball and University of Illinois football fan. He enjoyed time spent with family and his friends at the Ivy Club.
John was also a Navy veteran of World War II.
Cremation rites have been accorded and John's family will be having a private burial at Funks Grove Cemetery in McLean, Ill.
