John Smith

John Smith passed away peacefully into glory on May 25th, 2021. He was born in Peoria, Illinois on November 23rd, 1930. John married Anita Pelini in January 1961 and lived in Chillicothe, lL where they raised their four sons. John worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 32 years before retiring and moving to Arizona. John lost Anita in March 1988.

John began a second career with Robson Communities/Pima Utility where he worked for another 25 years before retiring for a 2nd time in 2018. He married Carol Jayne in July of 1993. He is survived by his wife Carol, sister Barbara, sons Tim, Ted, & Tyler, and stepsons Jimmy and John as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his wife Anita, son Tony, and his four siblings.

John was active in the Sun Lakes Lions Club for many years as well as the Caterpillar Retirement Community. He loved life, family, and friends. A graveside service will be held in Chillicothe, Illinois at 1pm on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at the Gilbert United Methodist church in Gilbert at 10:00am on July 10, 2021 followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers or plants please send donations to the Gilbert United Methodist Church Music Ministry.
