John Robert Kenyon, age 88, of Lacon, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing Home.
John was born on September 10, 1932 in Chillicothe, IL to Ben and Mabel (McDonald) Kenyon. He married Maxine Dawson on May 23, 1953 in Sparland, IL.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Maxine; his daughter, Vickie (Joseph) Shover of Low Point, IL; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rickey Kenyon; his brother, Harold Kenyon and two sisters, Florence Barnes and Imogene Rickey.
John served in the U.S. Army and then worked as a union carpenter with the Local 237 in Peoria for over 40 years. John also owned Kenyon's Orchard in Lacon for 40 years. He enjoyed traveling and genealogy and wrote and had published the Kenyon Family History book. He loved farm life and taking care of his animals on the farm, especially his beloved dog, Goofy.
Per John's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services. Burial of ashes will take place at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Online condolences may be made through www.hurdfamilyfunerals.com
