Joan Hope Van Lue, age 88, of Peoria, formerly of Atkinson, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.
Joan was born on July 3, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Mildred Shriver. She graduated from Northpark Academy in Chicago. She met William Van Lue at Michigan State University and they married on September 18, 1954 in East Lansing, MI. After six years in Michigan, Bill and Joan moved to Illinois and made Atkinson their home.
Surviving are her husband, Bill; her children, Kathy (Joe) Neitz of Bloomington, IL, Bill (Ann) Van Lue of Ellisville, MO and Eric (Melissa) Van Lue of Salem, WI; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Joyce DeFranco of Inverness, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Andrew.
Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Congregational Church in Atkinson.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Illinois.
