Janice (Jan) Elizabeth Poff was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always thinking of others offering comfort and care when needed. Jan was called home to be with Jesus, on December 5, 2020. She was loved by all and she will be missed.
She was born November 13, 1946 in Peoria to Chester & Ruth (Jackson) Holstrum.
Janice graduated, in 1964, from West Richland High School, Noble Illinois. She later married a classmate, who had become her best friend, Marshel Poff, on October 28, 1967. They were blessed with 53 years of marriage.
Jan was a faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran, serving many years on church council and various committees. She loved her family and friends providing guidance to all, when it was needed. Jan enjoyed sewing, home remodeling and decorating. She sold real estate for a number of years and loved following the local market. Also for many years, Jan attended the local Peoria County Home Extension group and came away with many ideas and lasting friendships.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Marshel Poff; their children, John (Susan) Poff of Dubuque, IA, Laura (Dave) Schaufelberger of Chillicothe and; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Roberta Holstrum and Jim ( Becky) Holstrum, along with
2 nieces and 3 nephews. Her parents and a sister, Ruth Ann Childers, preceded her in death.
Funeral services for the family and friends will be at 11am on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at St Mark Lutheran Church. The Rev. Linda Strader will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home. Current Covid mitigations will be in effect with social distancing and face covering restrictions.
