Harold Kennington

Harold C. "Kooch" Kennington, age 84, of Chillicothe, passed away at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Chillicothe on Monday, September 4, 2017. He was born to Joseph and Melita (Albeck) Kennington on June 6, 1933 in Peoria. He married Naomi B. "Sis" Stoner on August 19, 1956 in Henry, and she survives. Harold is also survived by his daughter, Shannon Kennington of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Chad (Marni) Fidler of Dunlap, Miranda (Tyson) Markley of Peoria, Samantha Fidler of Chillicothe, Shane Kennington of East Peoria, and Cristina Kennington of Peoria Heights; great-grandchildren, Hope Fidler, Collin Fidler, Trenton Mrazek, Bella Markley, and Luna Markley. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn; daughter, Sharolyn; son-in-law, Robert; sister, Joanne; and brother-in-law, Bob Stoner. Harold worked for McGrath Gravel and Martin Marietta Gravel in Chillicothe as an Operating Engineer for 25 years, and he was also employed as a custodian at IVC. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge George Washington #222 and the Union of Operating Engineers 649 in Peoria. Harold was an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. A Celebration of Life for Harold will be held at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 1:00- 4:00 PM. Burial will be held in Henry Cemetery at a later date.
