Gordon Moore

October 15, 1944 — April 10, 2016

Gordon K. "Gordie" Moore, 71, of Chillicothe passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Gordie was born on October 15, 1944 in Peoria the son of Sydney K. and Grace L. (Nellinger) Moore. He married Andrea E. Montonye at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe on August 31, 1968.

Surviving are two sons, Chip and Brett Moore, both of Chillicothe; three precious grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joshua Dean, and Tyler Keith; one sister, Donna Kneer of Chillicothe; three nephews; two great-nephews; and three great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gordie previously worked at the Pabst Brewing Company and had recently retired after 30 years as a dispatcher for the Chillicothe Police Department.

Gordie had been an avid Dodgers fan since he was 10 years old. His love for the sport was so great that he spent the time between high school and attending college teaching baseball and sportsmanship in Chillicothe. He even continued to play softball until his knee was injured at 35.

A funeral will be held for Gordie at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate. Memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care or the Children's Hospital of Illinois.
