February 24, 1919 — April 29, 2016

Glen C. Culp, age 97, of Peoria, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Glen was born on February 24, 1919 in Peoria to Frank and Mae (Gunter) Culp. He married Vonee Esta on September 15, 1939. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2013.

Glen is survived by his sons, Gareth Culp and Danny Culp, both of Peoria; daughter-in-law, Melissia of Peoria; great-granddaughter, Paige Bragg of Peoria; and step-daughter, Missy Culp of Bartonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and granddaughter, Cindy.

Glen was a lifetime employee of Cilco, and served as a Property Accountant for the company. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and also loved collecting coins and toy cars. Glen was one of the original Blue Coat Volunteers for Proctor Hospital and enjoyed doing that in his free time. He was a past member of the Shrine, a member of American Legion Post #1, and a veteran of the United States Navy. While in the Navy he earned the opportunity to be a radio operator for Admiral Nimitz, which Glen was very proud of.

Glen was a very loving and devoted father and cared for his children above all else. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service for Glen will be held on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home in Peoria. Reverend Raymond Harrison will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
