Geraldine "Gerry" L. Lober

Geraldine “Gerry” Louise Lober, age 90, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.

Gerry was born on November 5, 1932 in Peoria, IL to Shelby R. and Harriet L. (Bockman) Northrup.  She married Dale E. Lober on August 9, 1952 in Chillicothe.  He preceded her in death on March 1, 2019.  Also preceding her in death are her parents, one granddaughter, her brother and two brothers-in-law.

Surviving are her daughters, Lisa (Mike) Kemmer of Washington, IL, Connie Lober of Chillicothe, IL and Trish Lober of Antioch, TN; her grandchildren, Kirsten Burrow of Washington, IL, Kristopher (Emily) Kemmer of Johnston, IA and Kassidy (Darren) Cherrington of Davis Junction, IL and eight great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her sister, Christine Bollwinkle of Peoria, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Gerry went back to school in her mid-40’s receiving her LPN degree and, over the years, worked for Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Parkhill Nursing Home in Chillicothe and the Lutheran Home in Peoria, retiring in 1995.  She was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria where she taught Sunday school and VBS and had been a part of many bible study groups.  Gerry enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, and gardening.  She was a wonderful cook, an excellent homemaker and had a great love for her family.  She also had a great love for Christ and was longing to go to Heaven.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Chillicothe City Cemetery at 1pm.  Rev. John Hopwood will be officiating.  Memorials in her name may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.  Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe and online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
