Fred D. Rockwell, Jr.

Fred D. Rockwell, Jr., age 94, of Toulon, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 surrounded by his family at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria.

Fred was born on February 19, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Fred D. and Cecile (Hart) Rockwell, Sr.  He married Elizabeth M. Schellhaus on September 10, 1955 at Our Lady of Grace Church in Chicago. 

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; his children, Catherine (Jerry Alger) Rockwell of Glen Ellyn, IL, John (Linda) Rockwell of Geneva, IL, Michael (Catherine) Rockwell of Cave Creek, AZ, Elizabeth (David) Rockwell of Hanna City, IL and Timothy Rockwell of Chillicothe, IL; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.  He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Edward Rockwell; and two brothers, John Baker “J.B” Rockwell and Capt. William Andrew Rockwell.

Fred served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 before working as an Ornamental Horticulturist and Inspector for the Illinois Department of Agriculture for 30 years as well as a Nurseryman and Blueberry Grower.  Fred was a member of St. Dominic Parish in Wyoming, a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a Past Grand Night and Fourth Degree Sir Knight, and was Past President of the Horticulture Inspection Society of the Central States.
