Elizabeth Bishop

November 11, 1936 — March 2, 2015

Elizabeth J (Betty) Pogue Bishop, 78, formerly of Chillicothe, IL, passed away in Conroe, TX on March 2, 2015. She was born to Thomas W and Jeanne (Graham) Pogue on November 11, 1936 in Louisiana, MO. Betty graduated from Western High School and attended Western Illinois University both in Macomb, IL. Betty was a volunteer for the Girls Scouts and a lifetime member and executive secretary for the Chillicothe Sportsman's Club for 45 years. She was also a parishioner at St. Edwards Catholic Church. Betty especially had fond memories of the people she worked with at Convenient and Caterpillar Tractor Company.

Betty is survived by her son, Michael Bishop, of Peoria, IL, her daughter, Barbara Schoonover and husband, Greg, of Spring, TX and their children, Lauren and Gregory, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to all her friends and family that kept in touch with her after her move to TX in 2013.

Per Betty's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the home where her son resided for 30 years. Checks should be made payable to ARC of the Quad Cities. Please note in the memo line on check "FOR HERITAGE 53" and forward to ARC of the Quad Cities, 4601 53rd St, Moline, IL 61265, attention Susan.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial mass will be held Saturday, March 14, 11 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Chillicothe. The visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Galesburg.
