Earl Gauwitz

Earl "Teenie" Gauwitz, 85, of Washington died on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

Earl was born on July 21, 1930 in Peoria to Harry and Bessie (Lower) Gauwitz.

Earl was the youngest and last surviving of his siblings: Harry Paul, Lavina, Grace (Bill) Nolte, Leslie (Susan), and Charles (Beverly). He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He was like a father to his nephew and nieces: Leslie "Bill" (Linda) Gauwitz, Phyllis Durham, Diane Broe, Nanette (Chuck) Orton, and Marilyn (Glen) Wiley.

Earl was a life-long farmer and also worked in construction as a general laborer through the Central Illinois Labor Union. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Visitation will be held at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM with graveside services immediately following at Springdale Cemetery. Reverend Thomas Heren will officiate.

Memorials in honor of Earl may be made to Neighborhood House Meals on Wheels.
