Dwain Steven Deppolder, age 59, of Peoria passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Dwain was born on May 6, 1956 in New York, NY and raised by Robert and Helen Howe. He married Shelley Kay (Victor) Deppolder on May 3, 1975 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on February 1, 2012.
He was also preceded in death by his wife; mother, Helen Howe; sister, Marie Howard; brother in law, Royce Howard.
Dwain is survived by his children, Steven (Trisha) Deppolder of Chillicothe, Bobbie (Tim) Harris of Washington, and Amanda Kaschmitter of Peoria; one stepdaughter, Michelle (Jon) Emert of East Peoria; six grandchildren, Isaac Everett, Ivy Turner, Gabriel Deppolder, Kaleigh Everett, Tyler Bolton, and Addyson Deppolder; his fiancée, Deb Moran of Peoria; one sister, Helen (Les) German; and three brothers, John Deppolder of Peoria, John (Candy) Howe of Mapleton, and Rich (Pam) Howe of Peoria.
Dwain worked for the Peoria Fire Department as the Office of Emergency Management Coordinator/Planner for the City of Peoria. Dwain stated his fire service career as a firefighter with the Chillicothe Community Fire Department, Rome Station in May of 1979. While on the department he was promoted to Captain. He served in the Air Force and Coast Guard.
He enjoyed woodworking, boating, spending time with his family, camping, and refurbishing antiques.
A funeral service for Dwain will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe at 11:00 AM. Pastor Chris Cochran will officiate. Visitation will be held at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 PM, as well as an hour before the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery with military honors.
Memorials in honor of Dwain may be made to Calvary Baptist Academy.
