Dorothy Wisner

Dorothy Sue Wisner, age 81, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family at her home in Peoria on Friday, October 13, 2017. She was born to the late Jimmy and Estelle (Braxton) Rogers on April 23, 1936 in Alcolu, SC. She married Gerald F. Wisner Sr. in SC in 1959. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1996. She was also preceded in death by 10 siblings, one grandson, and one great-grandson. Dorothy is survived by her children Gerald (Mary) Wisner Jr. of East Peoria, Sandra (Fred) Wisner of Sparland, Melody (Rev. James T.) Yarborough of Spartanburg, SC, Geraldine (Thomas) Bergerhouse of Champaign and Nadine (Pat) Bennett of Gassville, AR; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby (Oleta) Rogers of SC; and sister, Katie (William) Corey of Florence, SC. Dorothy worked in food service for the majority of her life and for Goodwill for 6 years. She was a member of North Side Church of the Nazarene, where she was heavily involved. She enjoyed gardening and collecting dolls and angels. A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 12:00 PM at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Rev. John Spohn will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM and one hour before the funeral.
