Dorothy May Hart

Dorothy May Hart, age 94, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at The Arc of Chillicothe.

Dorothy was born on June 19, 1929 in Hayward, Wisconsin to Wilbur Robert and Pearl Elizabeth (Denver) Smith.  She married Dr. George A. Hart in 1970 and he preceded her in death in 1996. 

Surviving are her children, Sandra Glunz, Sherry Behrends and Rick Sarver; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean Luther; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, George; two brothers and three sisters.  She was also preceded in death by Fred Fechter, the love of her life, constant companion and care giver for over 20 years.

Dorothy owned a business on 2nd Street in Chillicothe named “A Little Bit of Country” for several years. She was also active during that time in efforts to revitalize the downtown area.  

A private graveside service was held at Chillicothe City Cemetery where she was laid to rest.  Because she had such a love for animals, memorials may be made in her name to TAPS or the ARK.  Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
