Doris M. Hays

Doris Marie Hays, age 92, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Doris was born on October 11, 1930 in Joy, Illinois to Henry and Delia Franson.  She married Robert C. Hays on June 6, 1950. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1993.  Also preceding her in death are her parents; her sister, Darlene Castle; and her daughter, Julie Brown.

Surviving are her son, Mike (Nancy) Hays of Chillicothe; her daughter, Vicki (Rick) Timmons of Cypress, TX, her son-in-law, Bryan Brown of Peoria, IL; her grandchildren, Patrick (Whitney) Timmons, Robert (Allison) Timmons, Laura (Matt) Mauricio, Katie (Josh) Gurnsey and Casey Hays; and her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Logan, JP, Jackson and Wyatt.  Also surviving is her niece, Terry Sue Castle, who helped care for Doris over the past few years.

Doris was a bank teller for the People’s Savings and Loan for 20 years.  She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Circle of Service.  Doris enjoyed golfing, reading and spending time with her family.

Services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 3pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Chillicothe City Cemetery.  Rev. Dan Bishop will be officiating.  Memorials in her name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
