Doris Benson

Doris W. Benson, 92, of Chillicothe died on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.
Doris was born on December 30, 1922 in Spring Valley IL the daughter of John and Louise (Miller) Konneck. She married Bill N. Benson on May 29, 1943 in Junction City, KS. They had two children, Wayne (Rosana) Benson of Hopewell, IL and Kathie (Del) Deiss of Pekin, IL. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Donaldson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a niece, Dahna.
Doris worked for many years she worked for Westclox Clock Factory in Peru and then as the Office Manager for Gray Auto Parts in Chillicothe. Doris was very active in the community, serving as a member of the American Legion Post #9 Auxiliary in Chillicothe, the Past President of the Ladies Golf League at the Lacon County Club, and the Past Secretary of the Chillicothe Planning Commission.
Doris was also very active in her church, the Plymouth Congregational Church where she served as treasurer for many years.
It was Doris' wishes that she be cremated. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 10:00 am at Chillicothe City Cemetery in Chillicothe.
