Lacon

Christopher Michael Dittmeier, age 62, of Lacon, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at his home.  Chris was born on May 18, 1960, in Manorville, NY, to Philip J. and Evelyn (Jamer) Dittmeier.  He married Kathryn Brown on July 2, 1994, at Christ Lutheran Church in East Moriches, NY.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy; his children, Philip H. Dittmeier and Laura Dittmeier of Lacon, IL; step-children Jacob Back, and Sarah (Ryan) Harty; grandsons Jonah and Solomon Harty, and one grandchild on the way; and his siblings Loretta Barrett of Mead, WA, Jim (Maggie) Dittmeier of Bardstown, KY, and Clare (Chris) Tresham of Searsport, ME.  He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant child, an infant grandchild, and his brother, Philip T. Dittmeier.

Chris graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in electrical engineering and went to work for Northrop Grumman.  He enjoyed working on Navy planes including the F14 Tomcat and the E2C Hawkeye and was a contributing volunteer in the creation of Grumman Memorial Park in Calverton, NY.  In 2008 he moved to Illinois and worked for Caterpillar as a senior engineer until the time of his death.  Chris loved gardening, astronomy, and trains.  He was an avid railfan and model railroader and loved sharing his passion for trains with his grandsons.  His pride and joy was his family, and anyone who knew him knew he was a punny guy who always had a joke for most any occasion at the ready.
