Charles Edward Homolka Jr., 71 of Chillicothe passed away at 3:40am Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Born May 28, 1945 in Libertyville, IL to Charles Edward Sr. and Gladys (Swan), he married Kathleen Dempsey on November 28, 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Jake Edward. Surviving are his wife Kathleen Homolka of Chillicothe, their children Judith (Chris) Hulett and Robert (Rebecca) Homolka of Peoria, IL, Michelle (Eric) Greskoviak of Chillicothe, IL, and Kris (Brian) James of Clearwater Beach, FL, and sister Karel Homolka of Houston, TX, and grandchildren: Cory, Ryan, Chance, Erica, Trinity, Owen, Nolin, Lila. Chuck was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War earning 2 purple hearts and 1 bronze star. Following his military service he became a heavy equipment operator in the Libertyville and Peoria areas. He loved fishing, outdoors, animals, and helping anyone in need. Chuck had a knack for holding conversations with strangers making friends for life. He also loved birds and flying, building his own Kit Fox plane. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10:30 am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chillicothe Cemetery. A life celebration luncheon will be held following the service at Arrowhead Country Club. Memorial contributions may be made to Hero Dogs.
