Alice Elizabeth Bannister, age 87, of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital.
Alice was born on July 21, 1933 in Rock Falls, IL to Lester and Thelma (Johnson) Emmitt. She married Robert Bannister on October 10, 1953 in Sterling, IL.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; her children, Brad (Robin) Bannister of Chillicothe, Patti (Jeff) Ritchie-Williams of Buckeye, AZ, Craig (Sheila) Bannister of Chillicothe, Dana Bannister of Chillicothe and Adele (Robert) Spell of Stafford, VA; her daughter-in-law, Loretta Bannister of Peoria; 13 grandchildren, Jordan (Kourtney) Bannister, Ivy (Justin) Carnegie, Levi Bannister, Faith (Scott) Morgan, Josh Ritchie, Jessi Williams, Joel (Angelique) Bannister, Stephanie (Amber) Bannister, Miles Bannister, Raymond (Rachel) Gorra, Leah Bannister, Kayla Spell and Ethan Spell; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Emberlyn Bannister, Barley and Mila Carnegie, Caroline Morgan, Joseph, Henry and Russell Bannister, Ryder Quintana and Rex Gorra. Also surviving are her brother, Jim (Myrtle "Myrt") Emmitt of Haines City, FL and her sister, Linda Currens of Polo, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Alan Bannister; and her grandson, Drew Bannister.
Alice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Over the years, she worked for Bergner's, sold Avon and Tupperware, and was a nursing student. She was also the Rome School "Coupon Lady." She was also a foster parent for many years. Alice enjoyed crocheting and craft shows, bowling, playing bingo and pinochle, and listening to Elvis and Tom Jones. She loved being active in her children and grandchildren's activities. Alice was known by her many nicknames, "Mrs. B," "Hurricane Alice," and "Alice Nasty." She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 1pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 5pm to 7pm also at the funeral home. Current Covid mitigations will be in effect with restrictions on social distancing and face coverings. Burial will be at LaPrairie Cemetery.
