Alberta "Bert" L. Mize, age 78, of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at St. Joseph Home in Lacon.
Bert was born on June 8, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois to John and Helen (Meads) Chase.
Surviving is her former spouse, Junior Mize of Haleyville, AL; her son, John R. Mize of Peoria, IL; and her grandson, Christopher M. (Tara Claycomb-) Mize of Chillicothe, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; and her daughter, Angela D. Mize.
Bert worked in the X-Ray Department at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was also a retiring officer LTJG of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Bert was a member of Northwoods Community Church and she enjoyed spending time with her family, researching genealogy, volunteering at the food pantry and crocheting.
A private graveside service will be held at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
