Adela Cabrera

Adela Cabrera, age 92, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.

Adela was born on August 29, 1930 in Chillicothe, IL to Nicholas and Eluteria (Razo) Ramos.  She married Jesse Cabrera in October of 1972 and he preceded her in death in 2014.  Also preceding her in death are her parents; her siblings, Ruth Granados, Ralphael Ramos, Tillie Garza, Margaret Vinson, Belle Garcia, Tony Ramos and Joe Ramos; and her stepson, Jay Cabrera.

Surviving are her step-grandchildren, Joey and Christina Cabrera; her step great-grandchild, Nicholas Cabrera; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Even though she had no children of her own, she was like a second mother to all her nieces and nephews.  She was very knowledgeable and was the one everyone went to for advice.  When her brothers became ill, she moved back from Joliet to care for them and be closer to her family, which was very important to Adela, and she was the glue that kept everyone together.  Adela was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe.  She was very social and enjoyed cooking, gardening and she LOVED her detective shows!
