Norman Christensen

Norman L. "Pete" Christensen, age 66, of Hopewell, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe, IL. Pete was born on September 22, 1952 in Luverne, MN to Hans P. and Gladys (Swenson) Christensen.  He married Pam Petre on May 21, 1977 in Rome, IL. Surviving are his wife, Pam; his son, Hans Lee Christensen of Peoria, IL; his step-son, Larry Burke of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Trinity Lee Christensen, Kristen, Tyler, Christopher and Ashley Burke and Cassandra Schalk; and two great-grandchildren, Jackie and Dillon.  Also surviving are five sisters, Beverly Kloostra, Joann Cortez, Karen Christensen, Becky Roberts and Launa Mongold.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn and Judy; three nephews, Cory, David and Todd and two Nieces, Alicia and Danette. Pete worked for Hunsickers in Peoria for 39 years and for the last few years he worked for Ingersoll Rand.  Pete and Pam enjoyed their motorcycle rides with the Lacon Motorcycle Club and he was the Mayor of Hopewell for 30 years.  Mostly Pete loved spending time with his family and he loved being a grandpa. Cremation rites will be accorded and per his wishes, his ashes are to go back to his family home of Luverne, Minnesota.  Arrangements were handled through Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
