Mildred Lucille Murphy, age 89, of Sparland, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Mildred was born on August 28, 1931 in Chillicothe, Illinois to Fred Arthur and Clara Louisa (Stotler) Loser. She married William "Bill" James Murphy on September 1, 1949 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2020. Also preceding her in death are her parents; two daughter-in-laws, Carol and Juanita Murphy; her brother, Dennis Loser; and her sister, Irene Barber.
Surviving are her children, David Murphy of Sparland, Greg Murphy of Sparland, William (Denice) Murphy of Lacon, and Brenda (Brad) Konno of Larkspur, CO; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Munk of Chillicothe, IL.
Mildred was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for JC Penney in Chillicothe and later did house cleaning for people while raising her family. Mildred was a great cook and she loved tending to her flowers and bird watching, especially Bald Eagles with her husband, Bill.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a private service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4pm to 6pm also at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
