Jayne Forbis

Jayne Ann Forbis, age 87, of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Kewanee Care Nursing Home.

Jayne was born on March 21, 1934 in Peoria, IL to Fredrick Wayne and Freida May (Voight) Webb.  She was married to Joseph Aubrey Forbis.  He preceded her in death.  Also preceding her in death are her son, Angelo Forbis; her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Forbis; and her brother, Wayne Webb.

Surviving are her children, Steven W. Forbis, Arthur J. (Madelyn) Forbis, Joseph I. (Mandy) Forbis, and Joy Christine (Keith) Forbis- Speth; her grandchildren, Desiree, Hayley, Daniel, Joanna, Lexi, Tori, Connor, Katie, and Brandon; and her great-grandchildren, Lily, Jozey, Jacey, James, Emma, Quin, Avery, Elliott, Violet, Summer Rayne, Landon Hunter and Angelo Wayne.

Jayne worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell and later as a caregiver working with handicapped people through Community Workshop Training Center and managed Crabel Court Community Living Facility.  She was very active with the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, taught classes at Shore Acres Park, and was a teacher’s aid for St. Edward Catholic School, both Rome and Mossville Schools and SEAPCO School.  Jayne was a member of the Peoria Area Blind Peoples Center and she attended St. Edward Catholic Church.  She loved singing and was often known as “The Walking Songbook.”

Services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  Visitation will also be held on Friday beginning at 9am at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.  Memorials may be made to Special Touch Ministry.  Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
