Gary Wilkinson

Gary S. Wilkinson, age 64, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Gary was born on September 4, 1956 in Spring Valley, IL to Melvin Eugene and Virginia Lee (Hammel) Wilkinson.  He married Nalana D. Hirth on August 20, 1977 in Henry, IL.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Nalana; his children, Leigh (Kevin) Slavens of East Peoria, Nichole Bohannan of Chillicothe, Robert Benjamin Wilkinson of Chillicothe and Samantha (Ryan Wilson) Wilkinson of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Jescie and Jozie Bohannan; and his beloved dog, Sadie Jean.  Also surviving are his four sisters and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

Gary worked for Evonik in Mapleton for many years, retiring in 2012.  Gary enjoyed keeping in shape and was a marathon runner in his younger years.  He enjoyed fishing and was active with Gam-Anon, where he and Nalana connected with and made many friends.

Per Gary’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and Celebration of Life and Potluck will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 3:30pm at the Peoria Casting Club in Chillicothe.  Memorials in his name may be made to The Ark, where Gary volunteered.  Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  Online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
